About Belle Acres Golf Course

Belle Acres Golf Course is the oldest active course between Nashville and Knoxville, having served the Cookeville community since May 1, 1930. Built by Dr. J.P. Terry with the help of Arnold Mears, a professional from Richland Golf Course in Nashville, Belle Acres has evolved from its humble beginnings into a beloved local fixture with a rich history and modern playing conditions.

The course originally opened with just 7 holes and sand greens. Two more holes were added about a year later, and the greens were eventually converted to cotton-seed hulls. A later conversion to Bermuda grass was troubled by crabgrass, prompting a final change to today's bent grass greens that provide consistent playing conditions year-round.

Following a recent redesign, Belle Acres offers golfers a varying terrain 2,923-yard, par-35, 9-hole track that's convenient to just about anywhere in the Cookeville area. Three tee options with slope ratings ranging from 109 to 111 make the course accessible to players of all skill levels, and affordable pricing keeps it one of the best values in Middle Tennessee.

What truly sets Belle Acres apart is its practice facility — the most popular in the area. The wide-arc hitting area allows ample room for everyone, and range fees are more than reasonable. Two practice greens round out the offering: one dedicated primarily to pitching and chipping, the other a dedicated putting green. The course also hosts a popular weekly A-B-C-D Scramble every Tuesday at 5:00 PM — sign up in person by 4:30 PM to compete for prizes.
