About Montgomery Bell State Park Golf Course

Montgomery Bell State Park Golf Course is a challenging 18-hole championship layout located in Burns, Tennessee, just 40 minutes from downtown Nashville. Originally designed by George Cobb in 1973, the course was expertly redesigned by Gary Roger Baird in 1988, with recent updates by Jerry Lemons in 2016 to maintain its championship character.


This challenging par-71 course stretches 6,614 yards from the championship Blue Tees with a demanding 72.9 course rating and 144 slope rating, making it one of the most challenging tests of golf in Middle Tennessee. The course has earned recognition from Golf Digest as one of the Top 100 Public Places to Play, cementing its reputation as a premier public golf destination.


The course features Champion Bermuda greens and 419 Bermuda fairways that wind through the beautiful rolling hills of Dickson County. Multiple tee options accommodate golfers of all skill levels, from the championship Blue Tees at 6,614 yards down to the Red Tees at 4,981 yards, ensuring an enjoyable experience for players of every ability.


Each spring, Montgomery Bell hosts the prestigious Dogwood Classic tournament, attracting golfers from across the region to test their skills on this challenging layout. The course's reputation for excellent conditioning and fair but demanding play has made it a favorite among serious golfers seeking a true championship golf experience.
